North Devon

This is a seaside holiday staying in the fabulous resort of Woolacombe, on the North Devon coast. The beach at Woolacombe is an award-winning sandy beach stretching for three miles and is a delight for children of all ages with wind–surfing and body boarding for the more adventurous. The North Devon coastal resorts are quieter than their counterparts on the South Devon coast and Woolacombe itself is a delightful small resort.

Woolacombe is well-situated to explore the many attractions North Devon has to offer. There is horse riding and quad biking not too far away and a Wildlife and Dinosaur Park at Coombe Martin. At nearby Croyde Bay there is swimming at Cascades, a cascading adventure pool with a giant 230ft flume, fun rapids ride, water spout, bubble lounger, jacuzzi, safe pools and waterfalls for the children.

Also not too far away at Bideford is the Big Sheep, a working farm turned wacky tourist attraction, combining traditional rural crafts, such as cheese making and shearing, with hilarious novelties such as sheep racing and duck trialling and an amusing and witty programme of events and if it rains there are undercover areas.

Watermouth Castle provides a host of fun. As well as the castle itself, there is the Dungeon labyrinth, with something different round each corner, Merrygoland providing rides and games and Gnome land a village full of little people.

North Devon

Thanks for an amazing time in Devon. Myself and my little boy Max went on the Woolacoombe holiday at the end of Aug. I was really quite nervous about how it would be but the whole week totally surpassed all my expectations. The hotel was clean, the food fine and the staff tolerant of our pack of children who basically over ran the hotel (like vermin!!!). The weather was a mixed bag but it didn't dampen our spirits.

Debbie was very nice. She arranged some good things but was very easy going and happy for us to set our times and do as we wished. I did feel sorry for her trying to organise getting us anywhere on time. It was rather like herding cats! But for the most part we got where we planned and enjoyed every minute of it.

For me it was wonderful to be able to have a meal with my child then for him to be able to potter off and have a play whilst I sat and enjoyed a couple of drinks with some friendly people.

I have already given your web address to numerous single friends and intend to spread the word where ever I can. People should know that something this good is out there.

Thank you again. I will most definitely be back (well unless I find the man of my dreams then I won't!!)

Kind regards, Lynsey

I am very pleased to let you know what a great holiday my kids and myself had.

Mango’s co ordinator, Debbie and daughter Megan were absolutely fab and as far as my kids and myself are concerned they were both a great part of the holiday. We regard them both as good friends and would love you to pass on a huge THANKYOU to both of them.

Kind regards, Phil

Our Accommodation

We will be staying half board at the Royal Hotel in Woolacombe. The Royal Hotel overlooks the Devon countryside and the sea and boasts impressive views from the dining room and is just a five minute walk down to the beach. The hotel is graded two star, it is a budget hotel of a basic standard but is child-friendly.

All bedrooms are en-suite and have TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast and evening meals are buffet style with lots of choice. Vegetarians are also well-catered for. Leisure facilities include a large heated indoor swimming pool, children’s play area and games room. The hotel has entertainment on most evenings. We can also organise our own entertainment.

Mango Holiday Fun

North Devon

If the weather is fine there is the fantastic stretch of beach where as well as building sand castles and taking a dip in the sea, we will organise beach games. Woolacombe is on the South West coastal path and we can take some short walks.

We will organise horse-riding and quad-biking and visits to Cascades at Croyde Bay the Big Sheep at Bideford and the Wildlife and Dinosaur Park at Coombe Martin. Some may want to visit other attractions in the area. The exact programme of visits will be organised by the Mango co-ordinator based on the weather conditions, the ages of the children and the interests of those on the holiday. You can do as little or as much as you choose and when it’s fine we will spend lots of time on the beach. There is body boarding and surfing on the beach for those who want to give it a try. And you can always have a go at Crazy Golf.

We can swim in the hotel pool and we will meet up each evening before dinner and all go in to eat together in the dining room, which overlooks the sea.

In June and September we organise special dates for Tots, that’s pre-school children. These are an ideal time for those of you with younger children to enjoy this great seaside resort. The programme for this holiday is especially aimed at the younger age group. The town and the beach are usually a little quieter in June and September.
